Energia Verde 2012

published on 12-21-2012
In the last couple of years, promotion of renewable electricity in Italy has entered a new phase. The focus of legislative activity has moved to integration of renewable energy in the electricity market, because of budget constraints and overshooting of national targets, but also because of increasing concerns of the Regulator and grid operators. Quantities, tariffs and the overall cost of support will be capped, and support schemes, that for photovoltaic in primis, will presumably be in place for a short time. On the other hand, connection requirements are becoming stricter, and renewable energy generators will be responsible for their imbalances, starting from 2013.
A new phase is beginning for the heating and cooling sector too. Support will not (only) be realized through the existing schemes for energy efficiency, but a new scheme is being put in place to support investments. Monitoring competition among residential heating technologies will represent an crucial tool to interpret the sector’s trends, as well as to assess effectiveness of incentive systems and to identify impacts on the sector’s energy mix.
